math on the 8th day of lock down

  1. Great work Yazmin. For the abacus slide you could just draw 3 straight lines and then draw the right amount onto each line to represent the hundreds, tens and ones needed. Hope that makes sense.

  2. Back in the day of the dinosaurs Yazmin,when I was just a little kid and had a pet Brontosaurus named Tiny,we used abacus for maths.
    They had 3 bars.Hundreds,tens and ones.We used rocks with holes in them(not really but it keeps in theme with the story that I'm trying to tell)and we put them on the bar to represent the number.
    Maybe when school is back,we can catch up and I can show you what I mean.

  3. Kia ora Yasmin.I agree with Suzanne, when we get back to school we will introduce you to an abacus. Could you do the same activity with a 4-digit number, eg. 3852?
