He thrust out his lead leg and energetically vaulted over the hurdle. The resistance from the water made the 110 metre hurdles tricky (much more difficult than on land!), yet the athlete was responding well to the added challenge and pressure. After all, this was the first Olympic Games to be held under the sea.

My story

Chapter 1

Hi my name is yazmin and  my friends are Nevaeh and misty-rose. We call misty-rose, misty because it is easier to say her name. Nevaeh is a bosses boots. I am a sassy pants and misty is well the nice one. We are starting a club for only cool people and tik tokers. I was about to put up posters when the city turned into an ocean?? The Olympics was held in our town!! We had to cancel. But we didn’t. We had an underwater Olympics.

WALT.about the rain damage that the rain has done over the past few days in canterbury

We have had big puddles and a lot of blocked gutters and drains in Christchurch over the past couple of days.

we had to stay away from the surface flooding. This has been caused by some of the drains being blocked with leaves and the water can’t drain away.

The flood has caused sewage and other pollution to overflow and now a lot of water is contaminated. If you come in contact with polluted water you must shower yourself  and wash your clothes.

Some schools have been damaged and have to work in their hall. Some power cells have been flooded and damaged. There have been evacuations from some houses.

The rivers have broken their banks and there has also been strong gusts of wind.

 

waking the giant

this week we were using a image as a story starter. check out my tuhituhi. 

The ground began to shake. Birds sprang from the branches of trees in a state of panic as the huge figure crawled out of the earth. First it was an elbow…Then a head…Then a colossal, moss-covered, stone face … An almighty bellow erupted from the giant’s enormous mouth, shaking the windows of the house. He dragged his immense torso out of the ground, then his feet (which were the size of double-decker buses) and stood up to his full height. Menacingly, he turned and strolled towards the house, a look of hunger in his bulging eyes. He looked in the house he saw the human he was he was frightened of the human! He screamed and said “Who are you”!!! “What do you mean I was watching Shortland Street. Now I will get back to watching Shortland Street.” Thank you very much” said the human. Then the giant went to the Tower of London he almost ate the queen but no he did’t because her daughter was mean he did not want a mean queen. Now he has gone to the Tower of London, he is going to Europe he saw a fancy house. It was George Washington’s house. George Washington said to the giant “good afternoon mister giant how are you '' good afternoon George Washington i am good how are you know what i don’t care I will eat you now ” replied the giant. So he as the giant ate George Washington he’s wife came at and said “put him down now” The giant put george washington down and said “Sorry George Washington '' but the giant ate he’s mum! The end thank you.

the Magic Globe. “Hmmm. Where shall we go this time?” Jeremy asked his brother. “How about there!?” replied Max excitedly. “We’ve always talked about going there!” The brothers both put their fingers on the part of the world they had chosen, and waited for the magic to happen. “I wonder if it will be as fun as our last trip,” mused Jeremy, as the globe began to glow. 

They are going to the east coast. Because  their parents said that they are going to go there in 2 years. But  when Max was 6 and Jeremy was 5. When Max is 10 and Jeremy is 9 when they ask . As the years went by now Max is 31 and Jeremy is 30 they still used the Globe. But 1 day something happened to the globe and it got stolen. But they knew who took the globe. It is Jedi! They did not know why Jedi took it. He probably wanted it to travel the world. At 2.00pm they found their sister. Their sister’s name was hue. She the only one that could speak maori. Hue was found on the east coast. She was so happy that she ran with them all day long, she had so much fun. Then at night they slipped and did not wuck up until morning. The end.
